Finding any amount of standing water in your home is bound to send you into a spiral of emotions and stress. That’s why it’s important to get rid of the standing water as soon as possible. When you need water extraction services, PureDry Restoration is there to help. Our team at PureDry offers water extraction services to keep your home safe from any standing water that can cause further damage. When it comes to living in the areas surrounding Seattle, Washington, dealing with large amounts of rainfall is the norm. For that reason, the chances of running into water damage at your home are increased. If that possibility becomes a reality, we want to make sure you know the ins and outs of our water removal services.
Water extraction is the process of removing excess or standing water from your home. The goal of water extraction services is to minimize the potential for water damage going forward by the method of water removal. This is one of the necessary first steps before full restoration services can restore the home. But that isn’t all. Water extraction also reduces the risk of permanent damage to valuables, prevents mold growth, and aids in restoring the home to its original condition.
The water extraction process with PureDry involves three steps to bring about water removal. This is what the water extraction process will look like when you choose PureDry:
Stop the Flow of Water
To begin the water removal process, the first thing that needs to be done is stopping the flow of water. This can be done by turning off the main water valve in certain instances. If damage is major, emergency services might need to help turn it off.
Drain the Water
At this point, visible pockets of water will be removed by the use of wet vacuums or a pump to drain the water away and out of the home. This step is crucial to prevent any further water damage to the home. For the safety of everyone involved, utility lines and electricity in general should be turned off.
Remove Non-Visible Water
And lastly, before the restoration process begins, non-visible water needs to be dealt with. Not all water damage is going to be seen in plain sight, water can hide behind the walls and carpeting of the home. The step is important in the prevention of mold and damage to the home’s structure.

My wife called into PureDry and was connected with Michaela (hopefully I spelled that correctly) - it was a great experience. We described our issue, and Michaela was able to navigate us through the process and get us set up with a Project Manager to visit our home. This is out of pocket for us, and we were told that we will receive a price on-site - we've had other contractors out which took days upon days to even get us a quote so this was a huge relief.
We haven't gotten into the project side of things yet, but I wanted to show credit where credit is due, awesome customer experience. Looking forward to the rest of the project with PureDry!

PureDry did a great job mitigating our water leak and then did an excellent job restoring the damaged areas. We also contracted with them to have additional painting done since the rooms were empty and the house now looks great. They did their work on time, stayed within the original quote, communicated well, and it all went well.

Initially, I thought this whole water restoration bit was a scam… I had a leak in my kitchen drain pipe and had a plumber come out to fix it. Roto Rooter was the original company and had sent out a water restoration person from their company to assess the damage. He blew out or proportion, was super aggressive and made me uncomfortable so I didn’t really know what to do. I found Puredry through Google and looked at their reviews and so I gave them a call. From the initial phone call, I could tell they were way better than what I had experienced. Jake, Heath & Conner were great! I worked with them all at different stages. Conner came out and assessed the water damage, was realistic and helped me through the claim process. Once the team came out, Heath and Jake, they started restoration but felt the issue had dried up so there wasn’t a need to pull everything up etc and said they wouldn’t charge me. I really appreciated their help through this process as it’s been a stressful few weeks made better by their team…and I get my kitchen back way sooner than I thought! :)

Matthew and Miguel did an amazing job in my basement. They were very professional and polite. They walked into quite a mess and seemed to know exactly what to do!
Thank you so much!
Are Water Extraction and Water Mitigation the Same Thing?
While it’s common for companies that offer water damage services to offer water extraction and water mitigation, these processes involve different methods. To prevent further water damage, water extraction, and water mitigation include several differences.
Water Extraction
With the use of specialized pumps and vacuums, excess water will be extracted from the home. When water damage strikes, the water extraction process needs to begin as soon as possible. The sooner this service begins, the better protected the home and its occupants will be from potential mold growth and the health complications that can ensue. While water extraction plays a big role in preventing further water damage in the home, its main purpose is water removal.
Water Mitigation
Water mitigation includes a variety of different steps a water restoration company can take to prevent further water damage. Depending on the extent of water damage and other factors, this is what you can expect from water mitigation services:
The removal of unsalvageable items and materials
Removal of affected home structures like drywall, flooring, and upholstered furniture
Thorough cleaning and disinfection of affected areas
Deodorizing the home
Drying out the home’s structural components with proper equipment
Humidity and moisture testing to make sure all water damage issues are taken care of.

Water damage can be a very serious issue to a home’s condition. Water damage can cause structural damage, such as compromised foundations or unsound walls and ceilings. Water damage can also affect the health and safety of its residents, as untreated water damage can lead to mold, causing airborne diseases and other respiratory hazards.
Depending on the factors of severity and location of water damage, the time it takes for an area of the home to fully dry out after water damage will vary between a day to several weeks. That being said, the average amount if time it takes to dry out mild water damage will be a few days. It is important to ensure the affected area is completely dry for best results.
Homeowners insurance only covers water damage if the cause of damage is sudden or accidental. This would include the event of a pipe burst, for instance. The damage caused by the pipe burst should be covered by the resident’s homeowners insurance.
The timeline of water damage is dependent on a number of factors. Whether it’s and immediate pipe burst and drainage failure, or long term corrosion and decay of internal and external structures, PureDry is able to tackle water damage at the source, no matter how bad the damage may seem. We are prepared to handle the situation, relying on our experience and expertise to take care of the problem for you.
Water damage is typically considered to be an infiltration of water to the interior of a home, causing damage that requires reparation and restoration. Water damage will be very obvious at times, and others may need to be assessed by a professional for proper inspection of possible serious or long term damage. There are four general types of water damage. The first action that a water damage restoration company takes is determining what type of damage and level of contamination that they are dealing with.
